FAQs

How safe is a cruise on the Nile river? ›

Nile River Cruise Safety

Nile River cruises are a popular choice for exploring Egypt's historical treasures, and they are generally considered safe for travelers. Cruise operators prioritize passenger safety and follow strict safety guidelines and regulations.

What food to expect on a Nile cruise? ›

The food served is normally a set meal in the evening, and buffet service at breakfast and lunch. Unlike European river cruises, do not expect local speciality dishes or haute cuisine, but rather a choice of chicken, fish, beef or vegetarian.

Should I go on a Nile cruise? ›

Part of that is tradition, and part of it is practicality; after all, many of the most famous sites are located directly on the river, making a cruise the easiest way to travel between them. At night, many of the temples and monuments are illuminated, and the sight of them from the water is simply breathtaking.

Where is the starting point for Nile Cruises? ›

Nile Cruises Start from Aswan:

You can reach Aswan by Train and Domestic Flight from Cairo and by Bus from Hurghada (Not Recommended).

What is the best month for a Nile cruise? ›

Best Time for a Nile River Cruise

The best time to cruise the Nile River is between October and April. With blue skies and mild temperatures that don't usually exceed 26°C, travelers can make the most of offshore day trips and explore Egypt's top tourist attractions, such as the Giza pyramids and Luxor temples.

Are mosquitoes a problem on a Nile cruise? ›

Anyone planning on cruising down the River Nile should ensure they stock up on mosquito repellent before setting sail. The best repellents contain 50% DEET and should be reapplied throughout the day and night.

Nile River Cruises and Swimwear

On most Nile River cruises, you can even enjoy your breakfast and your lunch while wearing a pair of shorts and a t-shirt or even your swimwear. Women who are inclined to wear very revealing swimwear are advised against wearing such swimwear indoors.

Will I see crocodiles on a Nile cruise? ›

Today, there are few, if any, remaining outside southernmost Egypt. Construction of the Aswan High Dam in 1960 has pushed their nests towards man-made Lake Nasser. Because our Authentic Nile Cruises embark from Luxor and cease in Aswan there is little chance a ravenous croc will present itself.

Should you do a Nile cruise in Egypt? ›
