World of Warcraft just shared the specifics about the Deephaul Ravine, the new PvP battleground map coming in The War Within. Featuring payloads, a capture-the-flag objective, and fast-travel vehicles, this battleground is sure to shake up PvP in World of Warcraft.
The release of The War Within is right around the corner, with early access beginning on August 22, and the full release of the game a few days later on August 26. The expansion has tons of exciting PvE content, including the Hero Talents progression system, outdoor activities, and new raids, delves, and dungeons for World of Warcraft players to explore.

However, PvP enthusiasts have plenty of reasons to be excited about The War Within as well. The Deephaul Ravine is a new battleground coming in the expansion, located in The Ringing Deeps. Two teams of 10, each representing the Unbound or the Machine Speakers, clash as they battle to capture resources and control the quarry. Players earn points by controlling one of the two mine carts active on the map, or by capturing the Deephaul Crystal from the center and returning it to their base. The match ends when the first team reaches 1500 points.
Deephaul Ravine PvP Battleground in World of Warcraft: The War Within
- A 10v10 battleground (8v8 in Battleground Blitz) in The Ringing Deeps.
- Available from level 71 and above.
- Hybrid payload/capture the flag objectives.
- First team to 1500 points wins.
- Mine cart vehicles offer quick transportation across the map.
The new map has other features that can turn the tide of battle, such as the mine cart which runs across the map. Using this vehicle, players can quickly traverse the battlefield to reposition their forces, and to set up ambushes and rapid engagements. With extreme topography, World of Warcraft classes with access to knockback skills can also use the high ground to their advantage to immediately end a skirmish with fall damage.
The last new battleground in World of Warcraft was the Seething Shore, released near the end of Legion back in 2018. This means it has been over six years since World of Warcraft received a new PvP map. Needless to say, fans of PvP in World of Warcraft are overjoyed to finally see some new content, and can’t wait to try out the map once The War Within launches.
The Deephaul Ravine should be playable as soon as The War Within enters early access, but players won’t be able to earn currency until the full launch. Honor will likewise be capped at 4000 during this time, and vendors will not stock items until the release to ensure fans are all at roughly the same place, regardless of editions purchased. Either way, World of Warcraft: The War Within PvP Season 1 doesn’t start until September 10, so players have several weeks to learn the Deephaul Ravine and get ready for Rated Battlegrounds.
